Frequently Asked Questions
Are your singing bowls really made in Nepal?
Yes. Every bowl is hand-hammered by artisans in Nepal. Our founder, Uddhab Sedhain, spent over 10 years in the Nepali handicraft trade, including factory management, and personally knows the workshops where our bowls are made.
What are Tibetan singing bowls made of?
Traditional bowls are made from a bronze alloy, classically described as seven metals (copper, tin, iron, silver, gold, mercury, and lead traces). Copper and tin form the base of the alloy that gives the bowl its rich, lasting tone.
What size singing bowl is best for beginners?
A 3.5 to 5 inch bowl is easiest to learn with — light enough to hold in your palm and forgiving to play. Larger bowls (8+ inches) produce deeper tones but need more technique.
What is the difference between hand-hammered and machine-made bowls?
Hand-hammered bowls show slightly irregular hammer marks and produce layered, complex overtones. Machine-made bowls look perfectly uniform and produce a thinner, single-note sound. All Khusi Inc bowls are hand-hammered.
Do singing bowls help with relaxation?
Research suggests they can: a 2016 study in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine found singing bowl meditation significantly reduced tension and improved mood in participants. They are widely used in meditation, yoga, and sound therapy practice.
